The Association recognizes and greatly values those members who give so generously of their time and talents for the betterment of the organization, for the assistance and support of their colleagues for the improvement of Chambers of Commerce, and for the advancement of our profession. Their personal and professional lives do them great honor and reflect favorably upon each of us.
One such person was Kent Lawrence, who gave of himself unselfishly to build this profession and to assist Chamber professionals in every possible way. In recognition of his many years of outstanding service, GACCE has named our professional of the year award in his honor.
It is, therefore, the policy of the Association that annually it shall select the KENT LAWRENCE PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR according to the procedures and criteria contained herein, and shall present the award each year at the Association’s Annual Conference.
What Are The Criteria?
All Executive and Staff Members of the Association who have held membership in GACCE, in either and/or both classifications, for at least five continuous years shall be eligible for the award, except that seated officers shall be ineligible for consideration or receipt of the award during their respective terms. This award is being given for the July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008 fiscal year.

The committee shall consider the long-term, career achievements of the candidates, as opposed to only a single year or the most recent year. Professional Criteria to be evaluated shall include, but not necessarily be limited to or by: professional organizational achievements, experience, training and education, service to GACCE and other professional organizations; service to Chamber colleagues; ethical conduct in dealing with others; a highly developed sense of professionalism; leadership; and an abiding desire to advance the profession of Chamber Management.
Non-Professional Criteria to be evaluated shall include but not necessarily be limited to or by: participation in the non-Chamber affairs of the community, to include civic, religious, charitable, educational, or other activities.
The committee shall be diligent and conscientious in its consideration of candidates and in its ultimate selection of the winner, keeping always in mind that each recipient is presented to the Association and to the general public as one who exemplifies the ideals of our calling.
